Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ideal age for my athlete to begin a strength and conditioning program?

There is no ideal age per se, to start a strength and conditioning program. When considering a strength and conditioning program for your athlete you want to look at the athlete’s chronological age (physical maturity) and their training age (time in structured physical activity). Contact us if you have more questions about your athletes readiness for a structured strength and conditioning program.

What is a block of training and what does it entail?

A block of training is called a mesocycle, typically it is a 4-6 week period of training and it could entail any number of physical skills i.e. strength, speed, power, change of direction/agility, cardiovascular endurance, etc

Can I sign up for back to back training blocks?
Yes. There are different focuses, or a combination of focal points for blocks of training i.e. strength, speed, power, change of direction/agility, cardiovascular endurance, stamina, balance, flexibility, coordination etc.
What if I am in a sport season, should I participate in a strength and conditioning program?
Absolutely! It is important an athlete maintain an in-season strength and conditioning program to ensure off-season and preseason training gains are not lost.
Will participating in a strength and conditioning program while my athlete is in season be too much?
As stated above, a true in-season strength and conditioning program is not about gains, it’s about maintaining what was gained in off-season and preseason training.Volume and intensity are dialed way back, game time performance takes priority.
